Passion for Purity Retreat – September 24-26

YFC is excited to present a retreat for high school girls in the Wabash Valley called Passion for Purity.  We will tackle one of the biggest issues that teens face in today’s society – Purity. Classes, testimonies and small groups will challenge the girls to “…honor God with your body.” (I Cor. 6:20b).  We will talk together about how you can make practical choices that follow God’s command to flee from sexual immorality.

Registration begins now and early bird rates end August 30.  Final registrations are due by September 13.   For more information, contact your youth pastor or email the YFC office.  A Registration form is available  HERE.

Final Week of Clubs in Vigo & Clay Counties

The week of May 3-7 marked the last week of clubs for this school year in Vigo and Clay Counties.   We are thrilled to report that several clubs grew this year.   Otter Creek attendance has doubled this year, going from an average of 25 kids to an average of 55 kids each week.  Thanks to Ryan Pursch, Bethany Gisel and Jason Riggle for their leadership at Otter Creek.   Many other clubs are also thriving.  We’ll do a full report in a few weeks.

School clubs will not be meeting over the summer, but in Clay County, Mary will continue to meet with some of her students.  In Vigo County, several special events are planned.   Please email Tim if you have any questions about the summer schedule!!!

Hot Dog Days are coming!!!

Hot Dog giveaways are a well-known event at the Vigo high schools.   If you want to see some excitement, you can follow Tim and a bunch of youth pastors around during the week of May 10-14 as they travel to North, South & West to hand out free hot dogs to students after school.  We’ll share some pictures afterwards, but you really have to be there to see the chaos and crazy hot-dog-grilling that ensues.

We plan for 200 kids at each school, but never know who we’re going to get!   This is a cooperative effort from YFC and many area churches.   Supplies we use include hot dogs, buns, ketchup, mustard, paper towels, cups, and lemonade mix.  If you would like to contribute, contact Tim or Bethany or call the office at 812-232-3781.

Update from Tim on Sullivan County

There are approx 1530 Junior High and Senior High students in the Sullivan County area.  Of those students, over 700 attended a Friday night rally at the Sullivan High School gymnasium in late February!  The important aspect to this is that approx 46% of the student population of Sullivan County in this age group had the opportunity to hear SAVING GOPSPEL OFJESUS CHRIST!!!

How did this happen?  JSMI Ministries came to town sponsored by a local church and group of concerned adults who want to see the youth of the community be reached for the Kingdom of God.  Character Based Assemblies were held in the schools of the county.  Each assembly provided the kids who attended encouragement to follow strong character traits that benefit the individual and community.  At the end of each assembly the kids were invited to come back at the end of the week to an evening rally that would be held at Sullivan High School.  During the rally the kids heard great music, watched professional video and drama and had the opportunity to hear a bold speaker who challenged them to make a decision to allow Christ to change their lives.

I had the wonderful opportunity to become a part of this outreach.  Of those kids in attendance that night in February, a vast majority of them made either a first time commitment or rededicated their lives to Christ.  I want to encourage you to pray for these kids as the youth workers in the community work to follow up on these decisions.  Pray for us as we go deeper into the lives of the kids of the county.  If you have questions concerning the evening or the programming please call me at 812-232-3781.

Praise God for Opportunity! Thank you for being a part of this ministry!

the Bus

We are thrilled that we have a bus to share with the community!  One of our generous supporters has made this lovely beast available to us and churches in the area for trips & youth events.   We ask only that you bring it back fueled up and cleaned out!   Contact Tim if you’d like to reserve it.

A CDL is required to drive it – you must also leave a copy of your driver’s license and insurance with our office.
